The North Carolina Museum of History (NCMoH) celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing with the One Giant Leap festival on (appropriately) July 20, 2019. Several members of the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk were among the volunteers who helped at the festival. For the full story on the day, check out our Jul/Aug 2019 newsletter.
Exhibits inside included Buzz Aldrin's spacesuit and several Apollo-era artifacts.
There were activities outside, complete with a moon-gravity simulator. (Check out the back of the t-shirt that staff and volunteers wore!)
Inside activities included a variety of exhibits and lectures.
