A couple of notes about the draft for the '98 season: - There won't be an interactive draft. I had a family commitment get dropped into the weekend that we traditionally have the RAFFLE draft -- two weeks before the season opener. - The draft order isn't quite what I posted in the rules for this season. Here's how it should've read (now that I have a clear understanding of how the NFL determines their draft order): The Fantasy Bowl winner drafts 12th, the F.B. lower drafts 11th, and the rest of the teams are ordered according to their regular season record -- with normal tie-breakers applying. Teams with the same record rotate with each other -- just as the NFL does it. Example: three of the teams that don't win the League Championship finished the regular season at 8-6 (Tms A, B, & D) and another finishes at 9-5 (Tm C). After the tie-breakers are applied, the teams are ordered A, B, D, and C in the first round; B, D, A, and C in the second; D, A, B, and C in the third; and the fourth round is the same as the first. I'll be posting the round-by-round draft order to the Site sometime in January -- and will also indicate all of the picks that have been traded so far. (I'll also be updating the list as additional draft picks are traded during the RAFFLE post season and the RAFFLE off-season.) See the '97 and '98 rules for limitations on trading draft picks. There are a couple of changes that will take affect after the '97 season: 1. The addition of a permanent non-Keeper League IV. New owners will join this league first, then be offered spots in the Keeper leagues as fran- chises become available. (Offers will be made in the order in which the owners joined Lg IV with the owner in Lg IV the longest getting first dibs.) 2. A flexible keeper system that allows the franchises in the three Keeper leagues to keep between five and twelve players. The 97-98 implementa- tion will make adjustments in the your position in the draft. The 98-99 implementation will use adjustments in the number of draft picks a team gets depending on the number of players kept. (The latter method still needs some work, but details will be available before August.) Yes, these are kinda major -- particularly the FKS -- but the only constant we seem to have in RAFFLE is change every year. :) Just remember, nothing says this stuff can't be modified over a couple of seasons or so. I'm now accepting proposals for rules changes for the 1998 Competition Com- mittee E-meeting (to be held in January). I will try to post the proposals to the Site as they make their way to the RAFFLE offices. IMPORTANT!! The deadline for submitting proposals is 18:00 EST on Friday, January 16, 1998. I'll send the compiled proposals to the Competition Com- mittee members that evening. Votes will be due back the following Friday at 18:00 EST and the final '98 rules will be mailed and posted that weekend. Weeks 16 and 17 both have Saturday games. This will move the lineup dead- line to Saturday at 10:30 am EST for the final two weeks of RAFFLE's season.
