FOREWARD: Last week, the Cloggers challenged the result of their game with the Anarchists. The result was that the wrong lineup was scored for the Cloggers. After getting the correct lineup, it turned out that the Anarchists had indeed won the game 30-27. Unfortunately, the Commissioner did not manage to figure that out until SATURDAY AFTERNOON, when he had ALREADY sent out a mailer saying the result was that the Cloggers had WON. All was made right, but the Commissioner formally apologizes for the poor manner in which this was handled. I know that I have missed a FEW scores, but they did not have any impact on the records, or especially the playoffs. It seems that it has caught up with me :( There is NO EXCUSE for this, particularly since I have help, but I do offer the following equation and explanation: RAFFLE + EXAMS + Poor_Management / Poor_Communication = Putz^2. RAFFLE : Obvious, I hope EXAMS : I had exams last week. Did well in them, too :) Poor_Management : My statistician tried to tell me that the Anarchist score was 30, not 27 for 3 days. (He says ...) I should have listened. Poor_Communication : Similar to Poor_Management, but produces 0 < x < 1. Putz^2 : What I end up looking like after all is said and done :| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Playoffs, week 1, and here are the RESULTS: The Bastards faced the 8th seeded Cloggers, but got more than they bargained for in the 34-32 win. The Bastards were led by J. Novacek with 2 TDs, and the Cloggers KANSAS CITY defense scored 12 points. The Bastards advance. The Steelers and the Airballers squared off, and the Steelers sweated out Monday night, but came away with the 22-21 narrow victory. The Airballers yanked Thurman Thomas and paid the price with the loss -- Putz^3. The Steelers advance. In an upset, the Lightning struck Hot Death with a 36-28 win. Despite the 14 points from the Washington defense, Lightning pulled off the victory led by 2 TDs from N. Andersen. The Lightning advance. In the close playoff game, the Bombers beat the Trouncers - again - 35-17. The Bombers had good, consistent play from all of their players to lead them to the victory. The Bombers advance. The Wildcats needed a good Monday night performance to beat the improving Anarchists 25-18. Another win could clinch 9th place for the Wildcats. In the other 9th place game, the Bombjacks "woke up" to the tune of 37 points to roll over the Linemen 37-20! The Bombjacks were led by M. Haynes 2 TDs. If they can beat the Wildcats next week, the Bombjacks have a good shot at 9th place. BONERS: The Cloggers and Airballers could have pulled the upsets IF they had replaced just ONE PLAYER on their rosters: The Airballers had a choice of Thomas, Martin, and Heyward. The Cloggers had Harbaugh and Dunbar. Oh well, better luck next year :| WEEK 15 WEEK 16 WEEK 17 #1 Bastards_34__ Bastards_____ #8 Cloggers_32__ xxxxxxxxxxxxx #4 Trouncers_17_ Bombers______ #5 Bombers___35_ xxxxxxxxxxxxx #2 Steelers___22 Steelers_____ #7 Airballers_21 xxxxxxxxxxxxx #3 Hot Death_28_ Lightning____ #6 Lightning_36_ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- THIRD PLACE: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- FIFTH PLACE: Hot Death vs. Airballers Trouncers vs. Cloggers ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SEVENTH PLACE: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- NINTH PLACE: *Bombjacks vs. *Wildcats Linemen vs. Anarchists ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game of the week: The Bastards and Bombers have split their series this year.
