**** See bottom for new playoff format!!! ***** In a game featuring 2 monday night players each, the Bombers defeated the winless Cloggers 31-30. The Bombers move to 3-1 in the tough spade division. Meanwhile, the HOT DEATH remain hot and beat the Wildcats by a 38-23 margin. Hot Death stays atop the NoTrump division while the Wildcats suffer their 2nd straight loss. In an exciting game that was not decided until Monday night, the Airballers to the Linemen 35-37, enroute to the spade division going 4-0 this week! In the game of the week, the Bastards continue their winning streak behind 18 Terry Allen points to defeat the Trouncers by a 30-22 margin. The Bombjacks improved their scoring from last week, but still got schalacked (pronounced shu lakt') by Lightning 51-14. The Lightning move ahead with the most points in the RAFFLE by breaking the 50+ barrier this week. The Steelers (our Steelers, anyway) remain undefeated by dealing the Anarchists a 26-6 loss. The Anarchists featured 4 starters who did not play last week... BONERS: The Anarchists had 4 zeroes before their game with the Steelers. Since the Steelers only scored 26 points, one cannot help but wonder what could have been. The Cloggers started C. Lohmiller at the K spot, who was off this week. They had K. Willis, TB for their kicker. Willis booted for 9 points and if started, would have given the Cloggers their first win. *** MORAL OF THE STORY: KNOW WHO IS PLAYING FROM WEEK TO WEEK!! Rich Gannon had a career day with 4 TD passes, but the Wildcats did not start him this week. Oh well, there is always next week! The Airballers did not start Kreig, but put in Harbaugh. Harbaugh got 6, but Krieg RAN FOR 2 TD's MONDAY!! In a game decided by 2 points, it makes a difference :( The TEAM DEFENSES had an off week, but that is to be expected when the NFC EAST takes the week off :) Behind the Numbers: Of the 63 points scored in the Detroit-TB game, only 30 were picked up by RAFFLE Teams, but the CHICAGO-ATLANTA game, woa Nellie! 96 points were scored, and 73 were picked up! 30 of those were picked up by Lightning on their way to a 50+ game! In the Jets-Rams game, only 3 of the 40 points scored were picked up by RAFFLE teams. (Who cares, right?) REMEMBER: The trade windows mean to get your picks in by the time indicated to be considered in the order OF the trade order. After the order, it is first come, first served. NOTE ON TRADE WINDOWS: You can make as many transactions as you like as long as they are before the window for you. This is needed because you may not always get what you ask for as you have in the past. Basically, If your team is not doing very well, you should get your trade picks in by the time designated to get first shot at the up and coming talent in the NFL. As far as the picks are concerned, you should get them back by Friday if you make your trade window. NEW PLAYOFF FORMAT: The new format is just like the old one, except that the four teams who do not make it will play a 3-week series against each other, with the 9 and 10 teams playing 2 home games and the 11 and 12 teams play 1 home game. The BEST RECORD/MOST POINTS from those 3 games will decide the 9th place team. The eight teams will play, as usual, but the losers will play the following week against other losers, thereby deciding places 3-8. It will be similar to a double elimination, but the losers cannot play the winners again. The RAFFLE BOWL will be played by the 2 winners in the semifinals. A breakdown: 9th-12th place teams play a 3-game series against one another with the best record/points OF THE THREE GAME SERIES deciding 9th place. The eight teams play in a tournament mode for week 15. In week 16, the four winners play each other based on the bracket, while the 4 losers DO THE SAME by playing the losers based on the bracket. In week 17, the fantasy bowl will be played, while 3rd is decided by the 2 losers in the semi-finals last week. 5th will be decided by the two winners that played in the loser bracket last week. 7th will be decided by the two losters in the loser bracket last week. 9th-12th by the 3 game series. This format means that EVERYONE will play for 17 weeks, which I think is a real plus. However, some may feel that the winner of the RAFFLE BOWL may not necessarily be the best team in the RAFFLE, but they will be official... The issue is not deciding the BEST team in the RAFFLE, because we could argue records, points, and conference wins all day. This tournament just gives us something similar to the NFL's super bowl.
